Activities available to Day scholars and Residential Pupils

  • Violin: Western Classical Violin is taught to boys & girls from Stds V to XII. Classes are offered once a week on Wednesdays from 2.15 pm to 5 pm. Currently there are 25 students trying to master the king of instruments.
  • Carnatic Music: In Pallikoodam we give utmost importance to Carnatic music, which is taught from Stds IV to XII . This basic training helps students to understand Sruthi, Taala and Laya which helps in improvisation techniques. Carnatic music, deeply rooted in Indian culture and tradition, helps students develop a deeper understanding and appreciation for the rich heritage of India.
  • Bharatanatyam: Bharatanatyam is taught to students from Std IV onwards. This classical dance form builds grace, discipline, and an appreciation for cultural heritage. After several years of intense practice, Bharatanatyam students perform their Arangetram, marking their debut on stage
  • Karate: The Martial art of Karate is offered to the students from Std IV upwards. This gives the students lessons in self-defence and helps them to deal with life’s challenges. Several of our students have acquired their Black Belts in this discipline.

Activities available only to Residential Pupils

  • Recorder : It is a wood-wind instrument, relatively easy to learn and play, making it an ideal first instrument for beginners in music reading. It is offered for children aged 6 to 12 years . It helps children develop their fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination and concentration. A sense of PITCH and RHYTHM is also developed. Staff Notation is taught syllabus based on Soprano and Alto recorders.
  • Electronic Organ : Basic and advanced courses are offered.
  • Guitar: Any child who is interested in music can learn to play the guitar . With dedication, practice and passion for music one can reach professional level. It is an attractive skill to acquire from the age of 10 .

No pupils will be exempt from extra-curricular activities based on religious sentiments.  Pupils should have a minimum of two extracurricular activities, one of which should be done in school. Attendance, punctuality and disciplined behaviour in these activities are compulsory. Residential pupils may be required to take more activities as recommended by the Warden.  It is important that they be kept constructively occupied after class hours.
