Building Lifelong Connections: With School and Schoolmates
During the nearly six-decade history of Pallikoodam (nee’ Corpus Christi), more than an estimated 1500 students have passed through the brick-layered corridors of the school. Today, some are close to 65 years, others just 20. A majority of them have studied ten years or more in the school, but some have been with us for just a year. Some are grandparents while most are parents. There are even some families where two generations have passed out from the school.
Today, not only do they span the length and breadth of Kerala and India, they are also spread throughout the world: from Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Brazil to the United States, Canada, UK, Singapore and the Middle East. A good section of our old students is in Kerala, but a substantial portion are also in Bengaluru, Mumbai, Chennai and Delhi. But wherever they are, they carry with them the spirit of Pallikoodam and hold the flag high.
True to the mission of the school, our boys and girls are not only in the top echelons in traditional professions like medicine and engineering, but also in bureaucracy, foreign service, creative arts, journalism, business and education. Some of our old students have joined their family businesses while others have inherited plantations and expanded them.
In recent years, the school has brought together about 800 alumni from across the world on to a dedicated Whatsapp group where they share and celebrate their achievements and debate and discuss important issues of relevance to the school and society. We bring out a weekly news bulletin and a quarterly newsletter. They are organised into groups according to cities and geographies and meet locally as often as they can. Our annual alumni get-together on campus is around November 7th, the Founder’s Day, the birthday of Mary Roy.
We urge those old students who have not joined the group as yet to do so. We also request you to visit the school with family and classmates when you can. We promise you to be gracious hosts.
